A letter from the MVP Principal Investigator
January 10, 2020
Thank you for visiting MVP Online. Since 2011, the Million Veteran Program (MVP) has partnered with Veterans to explore certain health conditions to improve health for everyone. MVP is now the largest health system-based cohort in the world. Thirty teams of VA researchers are working hard with university and federal partners to gain a better understanding of diseases that affect Veterans. We have projects in many important areas including PTSD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, heart disease, stroke, cancer, eye disease, and hearing loss, among others.
Through continued partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE), we now have access to the biggest computers in the world. In partnership with the Department of Defense (DOD), we are enhancing our recruitment of Veterans, especially those who have recently left active service. This will enable us to gather as much information as possible, and to put it to the best possible use.
The entire MVP team is working tirelessly to make the most of this world-leading resource, and to improve health for generations to come. We appreciate the willingness of so many to serve again by participating in this important program.
Sincerely,
J. Michael Gaziano, M.D.
Principal Investigator, Million Veteran Program
